Ilwad Elmi

Program Associate

Ilwad Elmi is a Consultant of No Peace Without Justice. After her active participation in the projects of NPWJ in Egypt and Djibouti, she currently serves in the Brussels Office from August 2009. She has contributed to the 2009-2010 FGM Program in West Africa on the implementation of effective anti-Female Genital Mutilations legislation at the national level, in line with the Maputo Protocol; also, she has been involved in the preparation and implementation of High Level Meeting in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in November 2009. She organizes and she participates in National Workshops all around the world to mobilize political, parliamentary and civil society actions.
 
Previously she worked as Legal Advisor for the United Nations Development Program on a project implemented in the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti, supporting Members of Parliament through the parliamentary Committee work. In addition, she has contributed to the work of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France and the United Nations Children’s Fund in Marseille.
 
She received her Master of Arts, Diplomacy and Strategic Negotiations from the University of Paris-South XI, Jean Monnet, Sceaux, France where she was the representative of the Organization of the Islamic Conference during negotiations’ simulation on “Intercultural Dialogue and Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution of Crisis in the Euro-Mediterranean region”. She received her Master’s Degree of Law, Major in International and European law, at the University of Aix-Marseille III, Paul Cézanne, Aix-en-Provence, France.
